I've used my new pass twice since I exchanged it. The first time was at Magic Kingdom and I had no problem at all. The second time was at Epcot. The light on the new ticket reader would not turn green. The CM's solution to this was to yell at me to try a different finger. I calmly explained to him that it could not be another finger because I have used the same finger for nine years. His answer to that was to yell at me to just try another finger. I gave in and tried and of course the light didn't turn green because there was no possible way for it to be another finger. So, he yelled some more about how I had to try another finger. Shockingly, the light still did not turn green. Finally, another CM came over with a handheld ticket reader and scanned my ticket for me.
