Hollywood Studios Surprise Characters

At Hollywood Studios, in the late afternoon, some surprise characters make appearances. Some people refer to it as Characterpalooza. The characters were appearing in the Animation Building. They'd come out at 4:50, go to their locations, they'd each have an attendant, and most importantly, a line.

Recently these characters have moved to the Streets of America and it's pure chaos. This is what it looks like now.

When I was there, the characters came out around 4:40 and only stayed out for ten minutes. The Evil Queen and Mary and her two penguins were in a set location. Every other character just roamed the area with no line and no attendant. The characters got swarmed with people grabbing them, running after them, yelling for them, and shoving their autograph books at them. There was absolutely no sense of order. The characters would meet with a couple people and then walk away from the group of people that were waiting to see them. (I do not blame the characters for walking away from anybody because they're just doing what they're told.) The attendants also just wandered around and some were yelling that there are no lines.

The characters came out again at 5:30 and stayed out for about ten to fifteen minutes. It was chaos again. I really hope they rethink the way they do this. I'm sure it was no fun for anybody.

Tangled Area Opens

The most anticipated bathrooms in Walt Disney World history have opened. The area is located in Fantasyland, where the old Skyway station was. It consists of bathrooms, tables, a waterfall, Rapunzel's tower, outlets to charge your electronics, and hidden friends of Pascal. The area looks beautiful. I can only hope that other areas of the park will be given this kind of treatment.

Flower and Garden Festival

The Flower and Garden Festival started on Wednesday (March 6) and will run through May 19. The Flower and Garden Festival is my favorite time to be at Epcot. I love all the flowers and topiaries. I have to say, I didn't enjoy it as much this year as I have in the past. It felt incomplete. I wanted to see more flowers and different topiaries. I didn't care for the butterfly house. It's now fairies themed and I really missed the Pixie Hollow Fairy Garden. That's always one of my favorite parts of the Flower and Garden Festival. I was not impressed with the main display in front of Spaceship Earth. I think they could have come up with something much better for the 20th anniversary other than using some of the same topiaries that are out year after year.

I noticed quite a few things that are normally there were missing. There was no sand sculpture, no Bambi topiaries, no Fantasia topiaries, no garden, the butterfly house didn't have a sign on it, the Chinese zodiac displays were not out, and there was a lack of flowers.

I did enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival though. Everything they had out looked beautiful. I liked that they moved around some of the topiaries. Though, I wish they moved around more of them because certain ones are in the same spots year after year. I thought it was clever to put Peter Pan on the roof of a building in the UK. I really liked the Monsters University display. I look forward to going back again to see if they've added anything new.

This year, they have added food booths. I have no interest in them but I did take pictures of the menus.
