New (to me) Characters I Met This Year

This year I was able to meet thirty-four characters that I have never met before. I really can't believe that I met that many. My favorite of all of them would have to be Lumiere. He was my number one character to meet and I really never thought I'd get the chance to meet him. I am looking forward to see what characters 2014 will bring.

In January, I met Lumiere, Cogsworth, Chip, Ludwig Von Drake, The Big Bad Wolf, Fifer Pig, Fiddler Pig, and Practical Pig.

Limited Time Magic - Secret Santa Autograph Cards

As part of Limited Time Magic, autograph cards were given out at Magic Kingdom for a week. All meet and greet characters had a card. I was able to get all twenty-nine in one day without even meeting some of them. All the CM's that I got cards from were very nice and accommodating. They all had no problem giving me two cards. Duffy's handler even gave me five and asked if it was enough.

I apologize that some of the pictures of the autograph cards are blurry. I didn't realize how bad the lighting over my kitchen table was when I was taking the pictures.

I met Duffy first and he had a very short line.




I got Pluto's card from a CM without meeting him.


I got Merida's card without meeting her.


I met Alice and the White Rabbit since I was the first person there to meet them.

Talk Like A Pirate Week

The Limited Time Magic for last week was 'Talk Like A Pirate Week'. There were meet and greets with Captain Hook, Jake, and Pirate Goofy. There was also a very cute pre-parade before the Celebrate A Dream Come True Parade.

Unleash the Villains

Friday the 13th, there was a Limited Time Magic event at Hollywood Studios called Unleash the Villains. Disney has been advertising this event ever since the Limited Time Magic campaign was announced. As soon as it was announced, I knew it was going to be a disaster and I was right. I don't know who was in charge of planning this event but they couldn't have done a worse job if they tried. It was by far the worst Limited Time Magic event that I attended.

I arrived at Hollywood Studios somewhere between 3:30 and 4:00. I took a few pictures, looked at the Villains area, and had a pretzel. A while later, I saw a lady wearing a Maleficent ears headband and I had to have it. I asked her where she got it and she told me it was at Villains in Vogue. I went there and it was a madhouse. I finally got inside, couldn't find the Maleficent ears, asked where they were, and they were sold out. I was so disappointed. Maleficent is my favorite villain and the ears were amazing. I really hope they bring them back.

I headed over to the villains area and met up with Jess, her boyfriend Pete, and a few other people. None of us had any idea which villains would be at each location. So, we all split up, and we planned on moving to the line of whoever got Oogie Boogie because that's who we all wanted to meet. Now, normally I would never go join people in line, but this was such a horribly organized event that it was our only shot of meeting Oogie Boogie.


So, we were all on lines around 6:00 and the villains were due to start meeting at 8:30. The queues were full long before 8:30. In fact, the entire area, including all the steps were full of people. There was a real lack of CM's in the area and it felt unsafe. I sat on the ground until some CM's came around and told us we weren't allowed to sit. I have no idea why though. The people sitting were all in the queue and had been there for almost two hours at that point. Finally, somewhere around 8:00 we were all told what characters we were getting. The line I was in was getting Jafar and Oogie Boogie. We were told three times that we would be getting Oogie Boogie first. The characters came out about twenty minutes late and the first character we got was Jafar. There were a group of people in front of us who were standing to the side so I asked them if they were waiting for Oogie Boogie and they told me yes. So, I, along with the other eight people I was waiting with decided that we were going to wait too since we were told that Oogie Boogie would be first. A CM came over and was trying to force us all to meet Jafar but we were not budging. I decided to speak up and told her that we were told three times that Oogie Boogie would be first and that we were going to wait for him. The CM then starts to yell at me, came over to me, and reached out her hand to grab me. I think she realized what she was doing at the last second and didn't touch me.

Finally, an amazing CM named Teresa came over and organized everything. She separated the queue into two lines; one for Jafar and one for Oogie Boogie. I thanked her for doing that and told her that we all appreciate it. She also made sure that we got autograph cards since they were almost out of them and we had been waiting. Oogie Boogie came out about thirty minutes later. When it was almost my turn to meet him, the CM that yelled at me came over and apologized. It felt like a sincere apology and I told her that I appreciated it.

May Character Round-Up

May was a good month for meeting characters.

Long Lost Friends 2

Long Lost Friends 2 is taking place at Magic Kingdom from July 15 - July 21. The characters are all located in Town Square and they appear from opening until around 4:00. They come out for twenty minutes and then go in for ten, which is an improvement from last time when they were out for thirty and in for thirty. Just like last time, none of the characters are signing autographs. Instead, you get cards at each location that have their autographs on them. However, you can only get a card if you're on line to meet the characters.

I had heard that the lines weren't nearly as bad as they were at the last Long Lost Friends. I found that to be true but they were longer than what had been reported for the first two days. The longest line was for the Robin Hood characters, the second longest was for the Br'ers, the third longest was for Dr. Facilier and Louis, and the shortest was for Chicken Little and Abby Mallard. The line for the Chicken Little and Abby Mallard location was the shortest when it was just Abby meeting, which happened a few times throughout the day.

I met Chicken Little with Abby Mallard twice, just Abby Mallard once, the Br'ers twice, the Robin Hood characters once, Dr. Facilier and Louis once and then I went back to get a picture with just Louis.

Mickey's America Streetbeat

When Mickey's America Streetbeat was first announced as the Limited Time Magic event for this week, I admit, I was not looking forward to it because most of the Limited Time Magic offerings have not been good. I watched a video of it youtube and it looked pretty good so I decided that I had to go see it.

I was the first person on line for the first show at 12:30. I just lined up early because I knew exactly where I wanted to sit, so I wanted to make sure I got the spot and I did. The show was absolutely amazing and it's one of the best Limited Time Magic events that they've had. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy came out first to welcome us and they brought in their new friends, a group of amazing dancers. The dancers were great and had so much energy. I don't know how they did four shows in a row with a thirty minute break in between. It was also a lot of fun to see Mickey, Minnie, and Donald dancing while Goofy got to play the drums.

I hope they bring Mickey's America Streetbeat back again in the near future because I would love to see it again, even if I did watch it three times in one day.

Merida's Coronation

Merida's coronation was held at Magic Kingdom on May 11. It was advertised as a Limited Time Magic event, so I assumed that meant everybody was going to get an equal chance to watch it. Unfortunately, that was not the case. There was an area in front of the castle that was roped off for people with special passes (Mom bloggers). All other guests had to stand behind ropes. I got a spot on the right side of the castle, right behind the rope, which was near the walkway to Fantasyland. There was tons of empty space so I thought that eventually the rope would come down and they'd let us up to watch. Too bad that never happened. I was so far back that I could barely see, I couldn't get any pictures, and I could barely hear it. At the end, they dropped the ropes from the other side, so Merida could pass by, and those people were lucky enough to be able to get some pictures of the very end. A while later, the Princesses came out to do a photoshoot. I got some pictures of them from behind and when they went back into the castle.

Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. It felt as though it was a private event and I think that Disney should have just done the coronation before the park even opened. I can't understand why they advertised it as Limited Time Magic yet only certain people actually got to watch it.
